The Kiwanis Village Lodge, a Vancouver Island-based seniors’ facility, provides 24-hour nursing care to up to 75 residents. For several years, it used an integrated fire, intrusion, and access control system to secure the facility, but ran into a problem when a door controller stopped functioning – the manufacturer declared the controllers no longer serviceable and the software no longer supported. A new system was needed.

This case study shows how Kantech’s KT-1 Ethernet-ready controllers, along with EntraPass Security software, solved the problem. Installation was easily accomplished in just one week, which was vital to ensuring little to no downtime during the transition. And the lodge was able to continue using legacy components, such as card readers. The EntraPass software provided additional flexibility to meet the facility’s needs and will help extend the system into other buildings in the future.
