Camosun Community College Deploys Integrated Security Solution
Camosun Community College, in Victoria, Canada, is a multi-campus community college with more than 50 buildings and a student population of 16,000. When a new building was being constructed and two others renovated, Camosun decided to expand its security systems. The school needed an integrated solution that could blend an existing access control system with updated readers, controllers, new and existing cameras, new video management system software, video recorders, and existing intrusion panels.
This case study looks at how Camosun deployed a security solution from Johnson Controls that brings together the EntraPass security management software with network video recorders, video management system software, and intrusion alarm panels. The system can also be accessed using a web browser or mobile app—one of the college’s “must haves” on its list of requirements. Since deployment, college security officials hope to implement the same multi-discipline security system in all campus buildings and new construction.
